Wide area network

A computer network that spans a relatively large geographical area.

Server Operating System

The same as the internet.

Router

 A device that allows packets of data to be moved efficiently between two points on a network.

Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)

 The collection of interconnected systems operated by the various telephone companies and administrations.

Proxy server

 A computer that acts as an intermediary between a client machine and a server.

Peer-Peer network

A network of personal computers.

Node

 An interconnection point on a computer network.

Modem

A device for connecting two computers through a telephone line.

Local area conector (LAN)

The ability for wireless devices to connect to the intenet if it gets signal.

Intranet

A computer network with restricted access.

Internet

 A vast computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide.

Hub

A device for connecting computers in a network.

Hacker

One who has the ability to break into a computer and have access to all of the data inside of the compter.

Firewall

An integrated collection of security measures designed to prevent unauthorized electronic access to a networked computer system.

Extranet

 Is partially accessible to authorized persons outside of a company or organization.

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)

Desighned to allow high speed data communication over an existing copper telephone line.

Communication Channels

It must go threw channels.

Server network

The internet that is available to the whole world.

Client

A customer.
